"Accidental Artificer" is a working title. The protagonist becomes the leader of a small village who must fight off Viking-esque Orc  raiders who previously claimed their settlement as thralls.

They say that the Imperija died in a crisis more than a hundred years ago. One hundred and twenty four, almost one hundred and twenty five years since the last communication that the Imperatorius or his ministers or anyone from the Imperija contacted anyone on Ilour. It should be twenty four hours until the celebration of a New Year, but tonight is when the Loytnant of Jarl Laghed and his longship full of warriors come to collect their taxes and inspect the village for any contraband writing, of which I am sure I will be considered guilty.

I am already a problem, as the day of my majority passed two years ago and I don’t meet the standard for recruitment that they usually have for any males that come of age. The Jarl takes all young men and makes them his warriors, then uses them to terrorize other villages under his control. This is probably intended to keep the villages in constant conflict with one another.
